To Provide you with the best servcie possible, we use an approach to pest control called Integraed Pest management or (IPM) for short. With this approach not every pest control situation is it necessary to use chemicals. An explanation to the steps to IPM approach and how it works is as follows:
- Inspection - we determine what pest activity is present either through observation or discussions with the homeowner.
- Identification - what pests are we dealing with
- Sanitation / Exclusion - Pest activity can be minimized and controlled through better sanitation practices and / or sealing pest's entry way sand harborage sites. make sure none of this is present and if so find ways to correct the situation.
- Treatment - is the introduction of control measures which may or may not include the use of conventional pest control materials.
- Communication - This is an overview of what pests were observed, oration, and what action was taken for control measures and any recommendations to correct deficient areas.
What does all of this mean to me?
Let's use an example of mice in the garage. Most people will purchase rat bait and place them inside the garage for control. Does it reallyi make sense to place these baits in a location to draw them where you did not want them? An IPM approach to this situation would be to seal an entry way to the garage expecially around the bottom corner of the garage door and make sure the bottom seal is the full length of the door(s). you would then use the same method to control any current activity. At this point, no other activity could entre into that place.
Another IPM example, make sure exterior door thresholds are not warn or weather stripping is not missing. By keeping these areas solid, you minimize pest entry ways. At this point material is applied to the perimeter areas, outside where the pests live and breed.
